It has been WAY too Long!

I know that it has been way too long and I am sorry that I am now putting up photos from I don’t even know the date off the top of my head, but here are picture from when the school went to Venice. The Venice trip was a one day trip, we went during carnival time. Venice loves their carnivals everywhere you look there are street performers, people fully dressed in costumes, and most of all their masks! The costumes and masks are so elaborate and beautiful! I think what I liked most of the city was the fact that the whole city is built on water therefore having bridges sporadically throughout the city and that the houses and buildings on the water all have their own “dock” type thing leading up to the door. Piazza San Marco is where the big Basilica is and the building where the Duke used to live. Venice was a very wealthy place because for a long time it was the only trading port from all over Europe. The history of Venice is interesting for a long time they had a big impact on the Italian trade and a lot of rich people lived there but now there primarily just tourist. But it is still a delightful place to visit.
I got a mask painted onto my face along with Allison and Tess. We had fun; it was fun to be in a place where if you didn’t have either a mask or some color on your face you didn’t really fit in. The streets in Venice are winding and narrow you can easily get lost thankfully it is not a very big place. Another really fun aspect of Venice is the Gondolas! The Gondolas were really expensive so they were really more fun to look at from a distance this trip was a blast.

Che Cose Mentre stiamo Aspettiando?

This is what we do while we are waiting to go on to the next site. Really quite fun, all of these pictures were taken in front of a big cathedral in Siena.

Siena

This is Siena, which is full of hills! The city streets go up and down giving you the oppurtunity to get some excersise. Piazzo di Campo is the picture with the big and in the summer there is a huge horse race where 10 of the 17 districts of Siena represent by racing a horse. During the actual horse race the whole square is filled with tons of people packed together. The accounts of the race sounds very exciting yet claustrophobic at the same time. I had a fun time wondering around this city, the gothic cathedral is of course amazing and big we were not able to go inside but on the floor of the cathedral there is a zodiac circle.

San Gimignano

This is San Gimignano, it is referred to as "Little Manhatten" becasue of the amount of towers in the city. I walked along the walls of the city and got a great view of the hills surrounding this city.
